Becoming a caregiver through the VAE (Validation of Acquired Experience)

You work as a caregiver but do not have the professional qualification?

By going through a Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) process you can validate your skills already acquired, and enhance your experience in home care to obtain your professional certification as a home care assistant.

What is VAE?

Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) allows you to obtain professional certification based on your experience. You can earn your caregiver diploma by having your professional experience recognized.

You must have worked for at least one year in the home care sector.

Given that a Caregiver diploma obtained through VAE is equivalent to a diploma obtained through a standard educational process.

Who is eligible for a diploma through VAE (Validation of Acquired Experience)?

The application for VAE is accessible to any person, without criteria of age, nationality, status or level of education.

You must have at least one year of experience in the field of the desired degree and be proficient in the French language.

In order to qualify for a home care assistant diploma, you must therefore demonstrate at least 1607 hours of professional experience in home care.

Your activity may have been continuous or not, part-time or full-time, under the status of employee, self-employed or volunteer.

How much does it cost?

Apart from logistics costs (transport, office supplies, etc.), the VAE process as an independent candidate is completely free.

As part of a (paid) support program, it is possible to obtain assistance through the CPF (Compte Personnel de Formation).
